The Todd Rugby Jersey
James Cameron Todd. Founder, visionary, and the first Old Boy. It was Todd who ruled in 1896 that rugby would be the school’s major winter sport, and an iconic playing strip was born.
Generations of Michaelhouse boys dreaming of scoring the winning try with seconds to spare on Derby Day have since worn their heart on their sleeve; have sweated and bled, wearing their roasties as badges of honour; have stood, a tight band on the banks of Meadows listening to the rolling hills of Balgowan echoing their siza bahlulas – all bound by a single, powerful colour: red.
The Todd reminds us of where it all started, what it means to every Man of Michaelhouse, and of our own distinctive strand in the fibre of a great school.
