Seventy three years after young Webb Ellis picked up the ball and with that flagrant disregard of the rules ran with it in his arms, the game of rugby football found a true expression at Michaelhouse. Since then, the game has ignited passions from the dusty market square in Pietermaritzburg to the deep green paddocks of Baileys and then Meadows, and everywhere else that the school has shared the values and ethos of that wonderful game.
